Gunny - Tight Lines

I grew up in the North Island of New Zealand on the banks of a famous  Hawkes Bay river, the  Ngaruroro River.  I spent a great deal of time fishing and exploring the Hawkes Bay, Taupo and Central North Island.  I worked in The Central Plateau fro 10yrs before moving down to base in the myself in Queenstown, New Zealand in 1995.   All my time in the South Island has been involved with working in the outdoors as a fishing guide,  jet boat captain, heli ski guide and ski instructor.   Combining my various skills has helped put me in a position of having an intimate knowledge of New Zealand and it’s fabulous fishing waters while also giving me the patience that a high level background as an instructor/guide provides.

Relevant Qualifications and Certifications

I am a current member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association (NZPFGA)
I have commercial liability insurance through the NZPFGA
I have a NZ Department of Concessions authorization to guide fly fishing in New Zealand (almost anywhere) through the NZPFGA
I hold current OSH required Outdoors and workplace first aid certificates
I have a helicopter loading and ground handling certificate
I have a audited safety operations plan through the NZPFGA
I am a commercial certified driver with a P endorsement
I operate a commercially certified vehicle (CoF)
I have commercial vehicle insurance
I have a Transport Service License (TSL)
I am a certified commercial jet boat driver
I have New Zealand Avalanche Stage One certification
I am a New Zealand Snow Sports Instructor (full cert and ex-trainer/examiner)
I have International Ski Instructors certification
I also carry a 406 GPS PLB (personal locator beacon) on each trip
