I am 46 years old and I am Romanian. I have studied to become a history teacher, but, here I am, after almost 17 years, working as a guide; there is a strong connection between history, history of art and guiding, but a guide needs much more: love for the country and love for people.
My husband is Spanish, so we live in Valencia, Spain, in winters (I am studying now to get my license as a guide for Valencia), from November to May, and in summers we live in Romania, from May to October.
My country is very easy to fall in love with: it may sound arrogant, but to me, it is the most beautiful country in the world. Where else could you find, altogether, in a rather small area, such deep green forest, spectacular mountain landscapes, rivers, lakes and waterfalls, fertile plains, the Danube Delta - enormous protected area for its wildlife - and white sandy beaches? Where else could you see such colorful traditional villages, so many medieval cities, each of them different? Where else could you meet such warm and welcoming people, so stubburn in preserving our ancestor's heritage, the old touching songs and the wild dances, the rich traditional costumes, such good food and good wines? For all that, we name our country 'the Mouth of Heaven'!
There are very few places in the world that I haven't met people from. I've been taking around my country groups of 'professional travellers', official delegations (ex. NATO board, the Emir of Quatar, Peace Conference for the Balkans executives, members of Parliament and ambassadors), football, basketball and rugby teams from UK, Spain, Greece and Turkey, journalists from all around the world, including Russia, China and Pakistan, fashion photographers from Channel and Christian Dior, business people, choir singers, architects, Nobel Prize winners, people fascinated by cemeteries, by old trains and trams, I have been working on Cruise ships... I have to write a book about all this one day!
I also took groups of Romanian tourists to Spain, Cypruss, Greece, Turkey and Hungary - as Tour leader -, and I have been a tourist myself in Italy, Jordan, France, Austria, Portugal...
There is nothing better than beeing a tour guide... Maybe, beeing a tourist?
I think I am a very patient, compassionate, enthusiastic person, and in a good mood all the time!
