The whole Kathmandu Valley has been declared a World Heritage Site because of seven structures citied by the UNESCO. Among seven, this package covers Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Changu Narayan Temple.
What to Expect
The third of the medieval city-states in the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur was always described as the best preserved. Tragically, however, the 2015 earthquake caused terrible devastation and loss of life. Nevertheless, only a few temples were destroyed, there is still much to see here and tourism is vital to the community.
Changu Narayan Temple is one of the valley’s oldest existing temples believed to have been constructed in the third or fourth century. The pagoda is dedicated to Vishnu, whose ten incarnations are molded in its struts and the temple has other elaborate wood carvings, some sculptures and metal work.
