Together with your guide Kristof you will be exploring the Eguin-Gol which originates from the great Khuvsgul Lake. North from Lake Khuvsgul are the last outskirts of the siberian Taiga, in the south the great steppes begin. To your left and right will be canyon-like uninhabited valleys followed by wide-open plains. Kristof will take you on a special trip away from all the other crowed touristic routes, together with him you will be visiting the nomadic families along the shorelines.
The Eguin-Gol does not have any wild waters, but is by far not a easy river to master. Often times collapsed trees block the way therefore it is crucial to be catious and travel at a moderate speed to ensure a safe journey, at least some of the participants should have canoeing experience. The expedition will be fully equipped. Along the way your menue can be spiced up by fishing or exchanging supplies for meat, airag and other specialties from nomadic families.
Kristof, your tour guide, travelled the north of Mongolia several times and knows the Eguin-Gol like the back of his hand. But your Mongolia experience will not be limited to only canoeing. Included in tour A is a horse trek around the Lake Khuvsgul, and quality time with a nomadic family will be spent on both of the tours. Along the canoe trip you will have a full fledged adventure expedition feeling. You will be sleeping in tents along the river and have ample time to relax and fish on resting days. A plenthora of wild animals will cross your way along the trip like vultures, horses, ordinary cattle, yaks and if you look into the water you will see an unreal number of fish snapping for insects and of course your fishing hook!
The tour starts right at Hatgal and ends at Erdenebulgan.
