Company History

Under The Tuscan Sun Tours was born from an idea of Mr. Andrea Celletti, who had been active as a tour guide in

Tuscany since 1991. He observed that travellers did not just want to see the main sights but also wanted to visit the

“real Italy”, places and sights not necessarily in the guide books, but that are the most genuine and representative, yet

sometimes not easy to reach or find and that his capability to provide what was needed and wanted was incredibly

appreciated. Having also worked for a prestigious limousine company Mr. Celletti had already practiced and learned the

job of being a good driverand, combining this experience with that of a guide, he could really get the clients to have a

real blast when driving and guiding them around the country. Having obtained all the legal requirements to operate a car

service business, when in 1997 the requests to give his special tours became so frequent, he decided to found Under

The Tuscan Sun Tours, bought the 1st minivan and could then proudly promote himself as the only tour guide in Tuscany

who owned a fully licensed Chauffeur Driven Vehicle therefore able to combine in one person the performance normally

done by two. Taking advantage of the consistent rave successes, an expansion plan in terms of vehicles was put in

execution, while the “Right People” was and had to continue being the key ingredient to the success.

The “Knowledge and Competence” obtained by completing intensive business administration and management training,

brought Mr. Celletti to take the savvy actions and decisions which guaranteed a constant expansion, even through the

critical period following September 2001, to a leading position in the industry nowadays confirmed by unparalleled

results and prestige.

Our Mission

Our purpose is to conduct tours which will greatly enhance the client’s understanding and enjoyment of our land and its

assets, making our clients fall in love with Florence and Tuscany, destinations considered among the richest of the world

in art and beauty . We intend to achieve it by exposing our culture and historical background using the passion and

knowledge-ability of our drivers and guides in such a personalized manner so that our clients will effortlessly get to really

learn and enjoy the “who’s and why’s” made Tuscany such a miracle of beauty. The Renaissance was probably the most

fantastic and critical moment in the evolution of modern culture, Florence was its cradle and still transmit to every visitor

an universal feeling of progress and beauty, we are convinced that knowledge and understanding are the most valuable

assets that any human being may ever have, in this light we endeavour conducting our tours in such a way that

experiencing Tuscany will make our clients not only feel pleased of having gained a new insight but make them proud of

a new awareness of having become a little richer in life. We don’t just arrange impeccable tours, we want to ensure that

Human Resources

The key factor which differentiate us from any other transportation company is the high educational and professional

level of our personnel. Soon after the foundation of the company, the demand of our service which was so innovative for

this area, grew so quickly that soon one single man could not possibly satisfy the requests.

Every business owner knows that it is not his capability alone but the quality and competence of his staff which will allow

to upkeep an expansion. Being aware that the first person in Tuscany to obtain all the licenses and requirements had

been himself, in order to expand he needed personnel with a combination of specializations and red-tape requirements

which in the “jobs marketplace” did not exist, the only way to expand was to select experienced tour guides with the

knowledge and technical capability and get to them to obtain the missing qualifications or licenses. This was our greatest

challenge, and year after year we won.

We now have a staff base we are admired for in the industry, having 20 Licensed Tourist Guides, 12 fully qualified

Driving Guides at our disposal, and 5 English Speaking Drivers. That is to say that we don’t even have 1 personnel

who does not at least speak good English, most of them speak a second foreign language which allow us to cover every

main foreign nationality.

Chauffeur

Our chauffeurs are all very experienced and used to hosting foreign tourists,VIPs,business and corporate travellers. All

our drivers speak at least good English: due to this plus the English Speaking Driver is the entry level of our service

without any price supplement. They are all extremely familiar with our area and the main destinations in Italy. Even if

passengers don’t have a preset number of sights to visit, our chauffeur will be able to recommend them and design the

itinerary to include any highlight. They will offer basic information about the sights or visited areas, and will stay at the

vehicle while clients tour a city or sight on their own, therefore a chauffeur is ideal if the client’s major interest is not

learning about the Art, History and Culture of the area, but just want some professional and experienced who will kow

how to direct them and who knows where to take them.

Driver Guide

A Driver Guide (DG) is a licensed Tour Conductor also licensed to drive Chauffeur Driven Vehicles. Our company was the

one that first launched this type of service in Italy and is what made us boom. Not only it gives the best “value for

money” since for little extra cost, clients get a much better assistance in general, but it’s the best way to always maintain

optimal quality and quantity of information given about the background, the culture, the spirit of each visited area and

relative sights. His knowledge of local areas and the whole country is VERY thorough and consistently superior to that of

a Chauffeur. He will master foreign languages, act as interpreter and travel consultant for his clients to help them decide

the best sights to see, how to best use their touring time, he will advice possible changes of plans according to their

reactions, he will point out the right restaurants and will simply ensure that they get out of the trip whatever they are

looking for, fun, culture, sights, landscapes, shopping etc.

The Driver Guide will always be at disposal of the clients and he will park the vehicle as needed and walk around the city

giving assistance, introducing sights in order to always let them feel they understand and enjoy what they see. The

Driver Guide will not take you inside museum, churches and archaeological sights since this is the role of Local Guides,

that can be booked separately when required. We recommend to use a Driver Guide instead of a Chauffeur for daily

excursions from Florence, multiple days tours of Tuscany and Italy or transfers with sightseeing stops on the way. The

Driver Guide is a real Guide.

While our personnel is the most important feature in our company, we must say we are equally proud of our Fleet.

Over the last 4 years we have made major investments in bringing our fleet to an ideal standard of quality and variety

Every vehicle is properly licensed and registered for chauffeur service and is insured with the highest possible coverage

made available by our insurance company.
