Sunday
Arrive at Malaga, Jerez or Gibraltar airport where you will be collected for the transfer to Tarifa. (There is an additional charge for this service, you can choose to hire a car if you would prefer).
Monday
This morning you will be introduced to your horse for the week. We will explain to you all about the tack (very comfortable saddles) and also the Spanish way of riding. As soon as you are comfortable on your horse you will go out for your first ride on the beautiful beach of Tarifa. This beach is part of a nature reserve and many migrating birds use it as a stop over before they fly to Africa.After lunch today there will be time to relax before enjoying another beach ride this evening when you can practice your Spanish riding style.
Tuesday
Santuary of the light (3 or 4 hours)
Away from the beach today, you will discover the real Andalusian countryside as we head to ‘The Sanctuary of Light’ a well known site of great historic interest. We will be riding at a slower pace through fields and along narrow tracks, where all types of wild animals can be seen. Lunch today will be in a small bar close to the sanctuary. Tonight there will be another opportunity to ride at a faster pace along the beach.
Wednesday
Sand Dune ride to Punta Paloma
Today you will be riding over the sand dunes of the most famous windsurfing beach of Tarifa. You will have fun sliding down the dunes on horseback! After this most memorable of adventures you will enjoy a picnic lunch in the tranquility of the pinewoods. Canter along the beach again this evening.
Thursday
We will be meeting at the hotel reception this morning, before being driven to Jerez de la Frontera, the horse capital of Andalusia. After tasting some of Jerez’s famous sherry you will be watching the show ‘how the Andalusian horses’ dance’. Here you can marvel at these beautiful pure bred stallions demonstrating dressage of the highest level.
Friday
Los Alcornocales National Park ( 4 or 5 hours)
Today we will be riding all day in the hills above Tarifa. You will be riding through typical Andalusian cork forests, in the shade of which you will enjoy a picnic lunch. This is a stunning ride into the remote countryside around Tarifa, many of the areas are only accessible by horse.
Saturday
Ride to the secret village of Paloma Baja (4 hours)
A day ride today along the beach of the Atlantic Ocean, over sand dunes and through pine woods until we reach the hidden village of Paloma Baja. We will stop for lunch in a spot with dramatic views out to sea in the middle of the National Park.
Sunday
Sadly today is the final day of your holiday and time to bid farewell to new friends as you head back to the airport for your flight home.
There is a choice of accommodation for this holiday. You can stay in the well appointed three star hotel next to the stables. Here you will find a swimming pool, tennis court, kite surfing and wind surfing school and paddle court. The accommodation is in very comfortable bungalows with air conditioning, satellite TV, private bathroom, private terrace etc (twin beds).
Alternatively, opposite the hotel are self-catering apartments, again well appointed and only ten minutes walk from the stables. If you choose to stay here, you would be better to hire a car so that you can get to the local super market (a few kilometers away). Alternatively taxi’s are inexpensive.
