Marc Chagall settles in the South of France when he comes back from the USA after WWII. Since then, he's going to live between Vence and Saint Paul, where he will finish his days. He offers to the French Governement en 1973, 17 paintings about the Biblical Message, whitch are exhibited in the museum of Nice.
After visiting the Cathedral of Vence where Chagall made the mosaïc Moses saved from the water of the baptistery in 1979, let's go to saint Paul, to visit the Maeght Foundation, where Chagall did some special pieces for Marguerite and Aimé Maeght : the mosaïc of the lovers and the large painting the life. Through the different rooms of the Foundation, you will enjoy several others pieces from modern and contemporary artists.
Then, drive towards Nice to visit the Biblical Message Museum : 12 paintings about the Genesis and the Exodus, and 5 paintings about the Song of the Song, celebrating the divine love and Chagall's love for his wife Valentina. Chagall also offered to the Museum other exceptionals pieces, like the Mosaïc of Elisha, or the strained glass windows of the creation of the world. Several exhibitions in relation with the thematic of the Biblbibal messages are organised every year.
