Cerveteri, once used as a backdrop for “spaghetti westerns”, has been richly and heavily populated since the 9th century BC.
It was a major center for trade and commerce of an enterprising people called the Etruscans, known for their artistic refinement, luxurious life-style and advanced engineering. There are few remains of their city today, but as they believed in life after death, their huge cemeteries were built for eternity… Their tombs look like houses, containing instruments, tools, jewels, arms, stuccoes and frescoes.
When visiting the ancient “necropolis” (city of the dead) and the National Museum, we will see and admire the way they lived, appreciate their art and their collection of sarcophagi, vases and everyday objects.
