The full-day trip to Vienna can be a nice opportunity to visit the ancient capital of the Hapsburg Empire.
The history of Vienna begins in the first century AD as a frontier settlement erected by the Romans on the site of the present-day city centre. In the Middle Ages, Vienna developed into a significant trading metropolis founded primarily on the trading routes for amber and salt. In 1360, under Rudolf II, construction of the Stephansdom began and one of the first universities in Europe was founded in 1365. During the Maria Theresa´s reign in the 18th century Vienna experienced a truly glamorous time, when Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven lived in the city. But Vienna´s heyday was certainly in the second half of the 19th century, during the Franz Joseph and the beautiful Sissi´s reign, the city witnessed a construction boom, it became truly modern city. J. Strauss II composed waltzes, Vienna was home to the likes of Brahms, Mahler, Klimt, Schiele, Zweig, Freud. This time also saw the growth of traditional coffee houses that stilly typify the face of Vienna today.
After arriving to Vienna you will have a grand sightseeing tour by car/minibus, during it you will see the most important places and buildings (Opera-house, Albertina Museum, St. Stephan cathedral, Hofburg – the former imperial palace, Town Hall, Parliament House, Ring, Prater etc.). Our guide will take you to the Vienna Downtown where streets are so narrow that the car/minibus has to stay outside the Ring. You will walk through the city center and the guide will show you all sights you can visit in the afternoon. The departure from Vienna will be at about 6.30PM, the arrival to Prague late in the evening.
